The 6th Annual Mosquito Lake Polar Bear Plunge will be held Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Cortland. And to help kick off the event, First News This Morning anchor Jeff Levkulich braved the freezing waters to show his support for the fundraiser.
Dressed in just a t-shirt and shorts, Jeff gingerly walked into the frigid waters of Mosquito Lake Friday.
Jeff is promoting the annual Polar Plunge to take place this weekend. The event will kick-off the Ohio Polar Bear Plunge season as one of nine plunges to be held throughout the winter months. All proceeds from these events directly support and benefit Special Olympics Ohio.
Below is a schedule of events and information on how you can get involved. Of course, we will be covering the event Saturday as First News reporter Peggy Sinkovich takes to the chilly waters herself.

Check-in/Registration:
All plungers must check-in/register at the Registration Tent on site, or attend Pre-Registration on Friday. Plungers will need to sign the waiver, turn in pledges raised off-line and collect incentive prizes. 1/21/2012 10:30 am - 1:15 pm
Costume Contest:
All plungers are encouraged to dress in costume. Best costume will earn a free gift card. 1/21/2012 1:00 pm - 1:20 pm

Post Plunge Party:
The Cortland Moose Lodge is sponsoring the Post Plunge Party. Plungers will be treated to free food and a cash bar. Prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraising individuals and top fundraising team. Guests of plungers will be charged a $5 donation to attend the Post Plunge Party. 1/21/2012 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
