Last December, a blanket of snow covered the Mahoning Valley and was the snowiest month ever in the Youngstown area.

Fast forward a year later and there is no snow in sight, and people are walking around in t-shirts in 50-degree weather. But, some people actually prefer snow and cooler temperatures over the milder weather and rain this time of year.

"I want it to snow. I don't need it to be super cold by any means, but I think some flurries. I think that's what Christmas is all about," said Nathan LaRiccia of Austintown.

"Last year was bad driving and trying to get back and forth to work, and do holiday shopping. But it's too warm out. It don't feel like Christmas," said Melissa Crowe of McDonald.

The owners of Komara Jewelers in Canfield are hoping to see more of the white stuff soon, even with a promotion going on that would reimburse all customers who made purchases from Nov. 25 to Dec. 18 if we get 4 inches or more of snow on Christmas Day.

"If you don't believe, you won't receive. The newspaper actually said today that there's a 50-50 chance of a white Christmas. So, we're keeping our fingers crossed," said Brianna Komara, manager of Komara Jewelers.

"There's always a chance, and if it does, I'm gonna dress up in my Santa Claus suit. I'm gonna fill up my bag with hundred dollar bills and give money away to everybody who bought something," said owner Bob Komara.

This year so far is the wettest year ever for Youngstown, breaking a 100-year-old record. And according to our myvalleyweather.com meteorologists, the mild temperatures and above average precipitation are expected to continue.
