There were 37,000 crashes on Ohio roads last winter. And those are just the accidents handled by the State Highway Patrol.
Cuyahoga County had the highest number but northeast Ohio ranked 3rd overall. The region around Medina and Ashland was number 1 followed by the Columbus area.
Troopers advise you be prepared for the conditions behind the wheel, but also drive defensively.
"First time out when the weather is bad, I'm more careful than normal and I do think about others. Live in Ohio and PA for six years, did grow up in Oklahoma and didn't worry about this stuff," said Scott Negley of Canfield.
Last year, speed was reported as a factor in 77 percent of winter driving accidents.
