The Friendly Trapper is responsible for me assembling the Onion Weather Forecast since 1994. When Trapper retired, I had been victorious the majority of years. Obviously the competition was important to my onions because since he stopped cutting the onions, I have had two of my worst years. This year, I only had 4 months correct, and the onion didn't even forecast the snowiest December.

If you want to give it a try follow these instructions. On New Year's Eve cut an onion in half. Separate the onion skins into 12 pods, one for each month. Place them in an egg carton in any order and pour salt on each pod. Label each pod for each month. Set it aside and leave it undisturbed until January 6. Read the results by identifying the wet onions as the wet months and the dry onions as the dry months.

Record the results. Email me at weather@wkbn.com and let me know how you did. Throughout the year, we can compare results. By the way, as soon as your through writing out your results, get rid of the onions. The smell is strong and, before you know, they will go bad.

Happy New Year.
